Parking at Toyota Sunnyvale is in customer parking areas on the lot until 9pm. So, although they may not close the lot that early, it’s probably safest to park on the street. Just go in through the main customer entrance which is on the right (when facing the building), the elevator is to your right in the hall as soon as you enter. Take two more rights when you get off the elevator on the 2nd floor , the conference room will be down the hall on your left.

Whoa, where did that come from?!!!
Ever drive down a street with which you’re familiar but haven’t been on for a while, and you suddenly pass a big, new development you’ve never seen before? Like the one shown above (which will be built on El Camino Real soon)? And you ask yourself, “How did that get there?!!” (You might use stronger language.)
Come to the Livable Sunnyvale meeting on October 21, at 2 PM, and hear from Developers who develop major apartment complexes in Sunnyvale like the one above. They will discuss the legal, political, and financial issues involved in taking a development from concept to construction.
Learn from them:
- How these developments come to be,
- Why don’t we have more housing, especially affordable housing,
- What will be the impact of the new State housing bills just signed into law, and
- How to influence the location, look, and size of these developments.
Big developments are coming to Sunnyvale soon. Learn how we can make more of them affordable.
Our Moderator is Kelly Snider of Kelly Snider Consulting, who has had such positions as Director, Mixed Use Development, for Sunnyvale Town Center, Director of Development for SummerHill Apartment Communities, and Director and Development Advisor for Los Altos Community Investments, and serves as an Adjunct Professor at San Jose State University re Commercial Real Estate Development.
The Developers include:
Geoffrey Morgan, President and CEO of First Community Housing: Geoff oversees all operations of First Community Housing, serving over 3,000 residents with the highest quality of environmentally sustainable, service-enriched affordable housing. Before joining FCH, Geoff was the Vice President of Real Estate Development for Christian Church Homes, and was responsible for development in various phases of approximately 2,000 units of senior housing and mixed use projects nationally.
Ardie Zahedani, Division President at St. Anton Communities, an award-winning, nationally recognized apartment and mixed-use builder with more than 25 years of ownership experience, which has many developments in the Bay Area, including Sunnyvale. Ardie is passionate about transit oriented market rate and income-restricted multifamily housing in housing-imbalanced communities (i.e., a focus on affordable housing).
Alex Sanchez, Executive Vice-President, ROEM Development Corporation, a vertically integrated company in the City of Santa Clara that produces high quality residential product through its in-house capacity to acquire, entitle, construct and manage its properties, and builds affordable housing. ROEM has developments in Sunnyvale. Alex also served as the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara and the Director of Housing for the City of San Jose.

Sunnyvale El Camino Real Specific Plan Advisory Committee Meeting
Last week the City Council approved the Residential-Plus option for El Camino Real.
The topic of this meeting will be Circulation and Multimodal Access.
City Staff and Consultants will present the possible strategies the El Camino Real Plan Advisory Committee (ECRPAC) and community can consider incorporating into the ECR Plan to improve safety and access on the corridor for different modes of travel (pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles). These strategies are based on existing City goals and policies and the input received from staff and from the community through the pop-up workshops, community workshop and previous ECRPAC meetings.

Make Your Voice Heard About Sunnyvale’s El Camino Real
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING ON EL CAMINO REAL
Sunnyvale is currently accepting community input on the El Camino Real Specific Plan, which will serve as the visionary blueprint for developing the corridor in the coming years. The City will be selecting a preferred alternative from three options this summer that will guide the developmental priorities of the projects to come on El Camino Real. Now is the time to speak up for what you think will best improve El Camino Real for the Sunnyvale community.
To combat the housing crisis and reduce traffic congestion, we must speak up for transit-friendly neighborhoods with desperately needed homes that we can all afford. Workers who are able to live closer to their work can be a big help to reduce commuter congestion.
Join Livable Sunnyvale at the Sunnyvale Planning commission Hearing on July 24th and at the Sunnyvale City Council Hearing on August 15th to make your voice heard.
Please ask the City to do the following:
- Adopt the ‘Housing-Rich Alternative’, Alternative R, with at least 5,100 new homes along the corridor
- Create strategies to ensure that homes are affordable for all residents.
- Keep the balance of jobs and homes from getting worse.
