Did you hear the good news?  Sunnyvale was awarded Prohousing Designation from California Governor Newsom and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). This recognizes our City’s efforts to implement policies that go above and beyond state housing law to facilitate housing production.  One criteria cited was the six 100%  affordable housing developments mentioned below.

Project Name Status Units
Edwina Benner Plaza Completed (2019) 66
Meridian / Block 15 Completed (2024) 90
Ira D. Hall Square Under construction 176
1171 Sonora Court Planning 172
295 S. Mathilda Ave. Predevelopment 122
Orchard Gardens Approved 123

That’s about 749 units since 2019 either completed or in development.

On Tuesday, at  7P  there is a study session at City Council to review the 295 S. Mathilda Avenue project by MidPen Housing, let’s show our support for this much needed housing project!

Livable Sunnyvale (LS) was awarded a $30,000 grant from Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s Affordable Housing Opportunities Portfolio.  The grant will be used to change public perception of the unhoused and influence policy through developing a storytelling campaign.  LS will partner with local media and advocacy groups to share these stories and track the impact on public perception and policy change.

Save the date, our next social will be coupled with an event by Catalyze SV on July 30, Wednesday at 5:30P, titled, Why Is There So Much Community Opposition to Housing? PANELIST
